NEWS:DJ Muggs & Ill Bill Prepare "Kill Devil Hills LP" For August

Two artists big on collaboration are Cypress Hill's DJ Muggs and La Coka Nostra's Ill Bill. HipHopDX learned this morning that the duo will release Kill Devil Hills on August 24 through Fat Beats Records.

The California pioneer producer and Brooklyn emcee/producer worked together previously on Bill's acclaimed 2008 release, Hour of Reprisal. Kill Devil Hills will feature early '90s alumi Raekwon, Sean Price, O.C., Everlast and B-Real, along with Sick Jacken and others.

"I prefer getting in the lab and actually creating projects with people instead of just sending out beat CDs. I'm a producer in the fullest extent, where I like to not only produce an album; but craft an album. Being able to start a record from the beginning and following through with it, making sure that all the songs compliment each other. I've always come from making albums and producing my records---I'm still into that” said DJ Muggs in a statement.

Previously, Muggs has done fully produced, in-studio albums with GZA and Planet Asia, in addition to his solo/Soul Assassins catalog, Cypress Hill work, and late '80s work with group, 7A3, signed to Ice-T's Rhyme Syndicate imprint.

The duo will also be among the headlining acts for this year's Rock The Bells traveling festival.

Ill Bill is also said to be at work on a full-length collaborative project with Jedi Mind Tricks' Vinnie Paz.

NEWS:Freeway Interview: Speaks On Roc Reunion "If Jay & Nas Can Do Sh*t Together...", Being Muslim, New Label Situation & More

Philadelphia rapper Freeway, known for his unique flow and association with Jay-Z, sat down with Hard Knock TV to talk about what he's been up to recently.

With a new label situation at Rhyme Sayers, Freezer compares being there to his days at Roc-A-Fella Records.

"At the Roc, just like Rhyme Sayers we had creative control of our project. Both of my albums at Roc-A-Fella I just went in did what I did and turned the albums in, it's the same way with Rhyme Sayers. Towards the end of my career with Roc-a-Fella when everything was falling apart. The attention shifted from us [the artists] to what was going on with Jay and Dame and all that. And they wasn't concentrating on our projects as much as they should have."

Freeway has watched as the Roc dynasty crumbled. Being a part of State Property with Beanie Sigel, Peedi Crakk, Young Gunz and Oschino & Sparks has put Freezer in an uneasy position.

For the most part he's been quiet and not taken sides as Beanie has taken his beef with Jay-Z public, but he understands the situation.

"Sh*t is f*cked up man, me being a part of it I just wish sh*t was how it was. I know Jay love Beans, I know Beans love Jay. Communication is the key, if you don't know what's on that man's mind and you aint talked to him in months you liable to think anything."

As bad as things seem now, Freeway wouldn't rule out a Roc reunion.

"If Jay and Nas can do some sh*t together. Communication is the key, if we can communicate now maybe we can get it done, If not f*ck it."

NEW RELEASE:Dutch (Liz Fullerton + Stoupe of Jedi Mind Tricks) - 'A Bright Cold Day LP OUT NOW!!

Click here to purchase at UndergroundHipHop.com!

Dutch is the buzzed about new project featuring the vocals of newcomer Liz Fullerton and production by Stoupe of the critically acclaimed Hip-Hop group Jedi Mind Tricks. The unlikely duo first collaborated on the JMT track "Razorblade Salvation"on Servants in Heaven, Kings in Hell and again on the track "Death Messiah" from , A History of Violence. The union of Liz's deeply sympathetic vocal stylings and Stoupe's trademark visceral beats made both songs standout cuts from those records as both remain favorites with fans and critics alike.

Now, set as a two-piece outfit, Dutch is the full realization of the artistic accomplishment at which their previous collaborations only hinted. After years of critical and commercial success as the enigmatic production guru behind JMT, Stoupe wanted to make a different kind of record; something that kept the same raw aesthetic he pioneered with his prior work, while allowing him to branch out as both a producer and songwriter. Liz's timely and fortuitous entry into the group's life was a destiny that seemed undeniable, if not a little bit lucky.

Nearly three years in the making, Dutch is set to release their debut album, A Bright Cold Day. The album features 12 hand-crafted tracks which have conjured comparisons to the dark programming aesthetics of Portishead, the soul-piercing melodies of Cat Power, and the viscerally provoking tone of Dido.

NEW RELEASES:MAY 2010 OUT NOW!!

THE HOTTEST LPZ!!GET THEM NOW HOMMIEZZ!

NEWS:2 Live Crew Readies New Album, Mannie Fresh Assists

The 2 Live Crew is back in the studio, ready to release their album in over twelve years - and have brought producer Mannie Fresh along for the ride.

The Miami, Florida rap group has tapped the former Cash Money producer, in addition to former Slip-N-Slide producer Funk Boogie.

The album, titled Just Wanna Be Heard, is set to be released on Nu Focuz Entertainment/Lil Joe Records this August, and will feature guest appearances from Too $hort, E-40 and the Insane Clown Posse.

"We’ve been away for so long. The album states where Marquis and I are coming from,” said member Fresh Kid Ice to AllHipHop.com. “We want to be back on the scene and with a lot of things going on. Music is like the same right now when you listen to a lot of different groups and so forth. So it’s our time again to be heard and we wanna be heard. So with two platinum producers and we all basically vibed on how to take 2 Live Crew to the next level instead of sounding like we did in the 80’s and 90’s."

The first single for the album will be titled "Cougar." "It’s a lot of older women with the younger men type of thing and it’s a good thing,” said Fresh Kid Ice. “Cause you gotta learn somewhere so hopefully every young man can experience a cougar and hope she don’t bite too hard."

Although the album doesn't feature original member Luther "Uncle Luke" Campbell, the iconic group member will join them on select dates during a summer tour.

NEWS:Necro Talks "Die!", Producing For Raekwon's "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx Pt. 2"

Late last week, emcee/producer/Psycho+Logical Records CEO Necro released his sixth album, Die!. The RBC/Fontana nationally-distributed project is entirely self-produced, and finds the Brooklyn veteran experimenting with both a bigger studio sound, as well the lyricist's continuously elevated rhyme schemes.

Speaking with HipHopDX Wednesday evening, the man who's previously produced for Cage, Missin Linx and brother, Ill Bill's Non Phixion group, explained how Wu-Tang Clan's chef broke a self-imposed embargo on producing for artists beyond Necro's label and family circle.

With Die! toying with both lyrical and musical experimentation within Necro's "brutal" Rap sub-genre, the multi-talented veteran explained how this work fits within his cult-acclaimed catalog of albums dating back to 2000's I Need Drugs. "To me, there will never be an end, 'cause I happen to really love makin' Hip Hop," said Necro candidly. "Makin' Hip Hop [is my love] more than the performance or the persona." If Necro explains his adolescence and industry tenure, that "persona" seems to dust the line of his actual lived experience. However, he ellaborated, "I gotta be a persona, 'cause if I'm not a persona, then there's nothing to back up the shit. If I'm gonna rap brutal, I have to be somebody that's willing to punch somebody in the face, or else it holds no weight." Having netted over a million dollars in Rap sales in the last decade - from his self-sufficient operation, Necro also said that persona affects paper. "I gotta go out there and I gotta talk shit and I gotta generate interest. And I gotta back up all that Necro shit that [I'm] saying."

Speaking more specifically about Die!, Necro also said that while he's known for a certain, very precise style, that does not mean he's not challenging himself lyrically. "Slayer makes Thrash, Metalica makes Heavy Metal, Necro raps brutal," he declared, drawing a comparitive analogy from two bands he deeply admires. "That doesn't mean everything I make is going to be the same kind of brutal." Necro's researched verses often touch on war, women, boxing and Horror films. "People tend to avoid that I'm flippin' all the subjects. I might make a brutal war track, but [it's a track about war]. It is a different subject. I am rapping with concept. I do experiment."

"It just so happens I've got my own sound attached to the name Necro," said the Brooklynite producer, who wanted to also explain musical growth. "The Necro sound is what-the-fuck I choose. I happen to be very obscure, and at the same time, do original shit that people haven't really fucked with yet. For example, on my title track, 'Die' , it wasn't the easiest to flow on that. It's a pretty fast, up-tempo track. It's a little obscure, but if you listen to the original [sample], it's a break - and it's never been used. I never heard anybody freak it."

The man who says he makes 30 beats in one sitting stopped to admire his production craftsmanship. "I freaked it! Honestly, shit's a lil' unorthodox. The way I hooked up the drums [Necro copies the percussion], there's snare kicks on every downbeat. Why? It's beautiful. It gave me the chance to do some next shit." Like Large Professor, Diamond D or even newcomer J. Cole, Necro then has to provided lyrics for the tracks he makes. "Plus the flow - when I started rhymin' to it, shit wasn't that easy. It wasn't like I sat down to it with your regular, average flow with a beat that's boom-boom-bap, boom-bap. That wasn't your typical 90 beats-per-measure shit, this shit was like 107. It required some angle to approach. It's even deeper than saying you're just going to rap on shit. You gotta come off! I don't give a fuck what you're trying to experimentally, if you don't come off, and cats hear it and go, 'that's lyrical,' you fuckin' failed! For me, I wouldn't have released that track if I didn't think I fuckin' came off. So I sat down, took me some time, and finally got in the mode, was able to kill it."

Necro analyzed his opening bars, "You never went to jail, you shook from the look of it / I invented Hell when I took the shit," that's not even as technical as other rhymes of mine because you can't put that many words in those phrases to fit that kind of bar-measure. So you kinda just gotta say some really hot shit. You're not really relying on rhyming eight words in one line."

While speaking with HipHopDX, Necro was also asked about producing "Gihad" for Raekwon and Ghostface Killah for last year's Only Built 4 Cuban Linx...Pt. II. The 2009 DX Year End Award-winning song (and album) served as a milestone for the respected producer who has slimmed down on credits and placements in the last decade. "I got disgusted," explained Necro on his hiatus. "I'm not givin' people beats no more. I don't want to be that dude that puts the power in the hands of a rapper. [If] I make a banger, I'm gonna rap on the banger. Fuck that." Necro said that he makes exceptions for his Psycho+Logical Records roster of artists, which includes Mr. Hyde and former Arsonists member Q-Unique. Additionally, Necro will always produce for Ill Bill, which he last did on 2008's fan-favorite Hour of Reprisal.

As far as breaking the rules to work with Raekwon, the placemement was hardly by design. "What happened was, I wasn't even lookin' to get beats on [rappers' projects]," repeated Necro. "[Ill] Bill had old beat CDs [of mine], and he started fuckin' with Raekwon on some shit," CD. "Bill called and said, 'Yo Necro, can I give Raekwon a copy of this old beat CD you gave me? He's working on Cuban 2, and he's not looking to pay $50,000 a beat - that don't work for [his budget]. He wants gutter, grime shit, and he heard some of your shit and he likes it.' I said, 'Yeah, why not? What do I got to lose?' And you know what, it wasn't even a new beat CD."

Strangely, the instrumental to "Gihad" was made less than two years after the first Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... "Actually, the beat that Raekwon picked was 13 years old. I made that beat in '97," revealed Necro with a chuckle. "It was two years before Rae called me and picked it. Rae had the beat CD for two years. I got a call two years later, Bill says, 'Rae wants to talk to you; he wants to use a beat.' I'm thinking in my head - kind of excited, this is a pretty good look. At the same time, I'm not really one of these dudes that's trying to get beat [placements]. I'm not like Alchemist, no disrespect to Alchemist. He conquered his lane of being that producer that first producer to have something on everybody's shit. I actually tried - I wanted to do that."

Early in Necro's career, the producer shopped beats to several New York Rap icons and even a multi-platinum superstar (which DX will chronicle later this week), but few were receptive. "I would've stayed up all night by the [Ensoniq] ASR-10 if I could actually get the music to people. I couldn't get it done. I wasn't doing it for major money - I would've taken [$1,000]. I would've done shit for the name." With Necro CDs floating around the industry since the late '90s, Cage and Missin' Linx remained the most receptive clients (besides Non Phixion) prior to last year.

With that history in Hip Hop, Necro said that Bill's passing the old beat CD of his brother's was the only way this relationship could have happened. "I wouldn't have gone into the studio and done a new beat CD - no disrespect to Rae. For nobody would I have gone into the studio and made a new beat CD at that point. That just wasn't what I was doing. The fact that Bill said he had an old beat CD, it was easy for me [to agree]. Go ahead."

When Raekwon and Necro finally spoke on the subject of placing "Gihad," Necro respected his fellow veteran in a truly rare style. "'Tell him he can have the beat for free,'" Necro asked brother Ill Bill to tell Raekwon after inquiries were made to buying the track. "I don't even want the fuckin' money; I'm giving Raekwon the beat for free on spec, 'cause it's [Only Built 4 Cuban Linx...Pt. II] and I know what a big record it is. If he's really 'bout it, and he's really 'bout usin' my beat, then I'm not lookin' to make money off of it, 'cause that's good enough of a payment." A die-hard fan of Hip Hop, Necro felt honored to be included on the highly-touted project, pairing him with producers such as Dr. Dre, RZA, Erick Sermon, J Dilla and Marley Marl. He's complimenting me enough by saying, 'This record is dope, and this [album] has been anticipated for 14 years.'" All Necro wanted was proper credit in the EMI Records release's inserts, which happened to be prominently featured on the back of the six-figure selling release. "Hey, it happened! He dropped it. Much props to Raekwon for [letting me be a part of] a classic album, something Hip Hop really appreciated. I want to thank Bill for that."

The victory however, was bittersweet for Necro. With a 13 year-old beat, the artist would loved proper recognition sooner. "It would have meant so much more to me if when I was trying to get beats out there, mothafuckas showed me love. That's how it works in the game: when you don't care anymore, then [your dream finally happens]."

Stay tuned for more from HipHopDX's 90-minute conversation with Necro. His album Die! is in stores now on Psycho+Logical Records.

NEWS:Nas, Damian Marley Give Fans A Behind The Scenes Look At 'Distant Relatives'

Photobucket

AllHipHop.com has teamed with Nas and Damian Marley to create the latest episode of the series “The Next 48 Hours.”

The webisodes give fans a behind-the-scenes look, as the Nas and Damian Marley promote their new album, Distant Relatives.

The concept album features guest appearances by artists like Lil Wayne, K’Naan, Stephen Marley and others.

Both Nas and Damian Marley expressed the importance of chronicling them as they tour the country to promote Distant Relatives.

“To make it even more historical, [it] kinda reminds me of how I watched footage of my father,” Marley told AllHipHop.com about his involvement in the series. “You get to see the whole you weren't a part of. AllHipHop.com is a credible place for people to experience this thing and that adds credibility to our project.”

Nas agreed. “Someone told me we should always be filming, but of course we can’t do that,” Nas said. “We got AllHipHop with us, so we are already home.”

“The Next 48 Hours” webisode series is produced by AllHipHop.com, Tantrum Consulting and JumpOff.Tv.

Previous artists featured in the series include Fabolous, Raekwon, Rick Ross, Method Man & Redman, Jadakiss and others.

NEWS:Roots Talk New Album, Projects With Danger Mouse, John Legend

Photobucket

The Roots are set to drop their 11th album, How I Got Over, but group member Black Thought and Questlove said they also have a number of projecting comes as well.

"He [Black Thought] has a project that I'm in called the Money Making Jam Boys. The support team of this album is the Money Making Jam Boys with Sugar Tongue Slim, Truck North, Dice Raw, [Porn and Black Thought]," Questlove told AllHipHop.com.

"Ill Street Blues," a remake of the Kool G Rap classic, can be found on the Sugar Tongue Slim debut mixtape and it features the Money Making Jam Boys.

As The Roots prepare to drop their new album, Black Thought and Questlove said the group is preparing a slew of new projects, including one with John Legend.

"We're still involved in the John Legend record. That just basically became a John Legend and Roots Album. Initially all the albums were supposed to come out at the same time. But he's pushing his back [John Legend] because his album is tied to a movie called, "Waiting for Superman." This is a movie about how the education system has failed America.," Questlove said.

Filmmaker Davis Guggenheim, who also directed Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth," hems the "Waiting for Superman" film, which follows several intelligent kids through the education system to see the detrimental affects on them. His findings are startling and questions the system that seemingly stunts academic growth.

Questlove said the soundtrack with John Legend will present aggressive music from the singer and the Philadelphia-bred band.

"We created basically a soundtrack that is basically John's most grittiest, roughest album," he said.

Questlove also revealed that the group would be working with the legendary Booker T of the famed R&B band Booker T. & The MG's.

"Come October, we also had the pleasure of creating an album with Booker T. The same with him (as with John Legend, we pretty much make an album. We had Gabe of the Dap Pinks engineer it. This will probably be the 'Rafeal Sadiq' record of this year. It sounds like it was made in 1964...it sounds like super raw and gritty..."

Black Thought also said that he was working on a project with acclaimed producer Danger Mouse called Dangerous Thoughts. Finally, Black Thought revealed that he was still looking to release a highly delayed, but anticipated solo project.

"Its still in the works, but at the moment I'm just trying to find a home for it," Black Thought said of his solo album.

How I Got Over comes out on June 22.

NEW VIDEO:Toki Wright - By the Time I Get to Arizona 2010

(MESSAGE BY TOKI WRIGHT)
Dear Friends, Family, and Allies,

On Friday, April 23rd 2010 at approximately 1:30pm Governor Jan Brewer of Arizona signed into law the most aggressive bill against undocumented residents in the United States. Under Senate Bill 1070 (SB 1070) local police departments have been given the authority to identify, detain, and deport anyone they deem to be illegally in the US based solely on their suspicion. Yet we ask, "what does illegal look like?"

We the people believe that this is not only a decision deeply rooted in racism, but also a political plot to cause disruption between the State and Federal government at the expense of hard working families. The same stigma that has plagued people of color in unfair hiring and housing practices, education, police profiling and more has now been passed into so-called "law." Law is nothing but an opinion reinforced by intimidation. Also, how can you call someone else illegal when you live on stolen land?

We won't take this sitting down. Resist. Fight.

In Solidarity,
Toki Wright

NEWS:MC Eiht Details "Which Way Is West" Album With DJ Premier

Photobucket

MC Eiht will link with longtime friend and collaborator DJ Premier of Gang Starr to release Which Way Is West later this year. The duo has worked together on several remixes and the famous "Aiight, Chill" interlude dating back nearly 20 years. With the album reportedly due on Premier's Year Round Records imprint, Eiht was asked whether recording his first album in over three years. "I've been going back and forth," the Comptons Most Wanted front-man told HipHopDX. "I'm a true Hip Hop nigga. I might be [from] Compton, west coast, but I'm a true Hip Hop [head]. I've always been a few of New Yorkers: EPMD, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Kool Moe Dee/Treacherous Three, Afrika Bambaataa - I know what the foundation is. So when it comes to shit like that, I'll go where the flow is. Working with [DJ] Premier, I've been dealing with Premier for about the last 20 years, so I wanted to record [in HeadQcourterz Studios]." Thus, the 24-year veteran worked out of the same studio where artists such as Notorious B.I.G., Nas and Jay-Z laid down street classics.

Nearly 15 years removed from Rap's ugly memories of an east/west conflict, MC Eiht remains one of the few artists who always appeared embraced by east coast titans like Premier, Pete Rock and Wu-Tang Clan's U-God. With this collaborative album, the O.G. wanted that side to come across in the music. "I wanted to capture some of that feeling too. Everybody knows I'm west coast to the fullest, but I get love on the east too," said Eiht. "Anytime I go to New York, I walk around, 'What's up, Eiht?' Niggas recognize me, no problems. I just like to show that respect too. [DJ Premier is based in New York], that's his foundation, that's where his base is, and it's not like I'm unfamiliar with the place. It doesn't bother me with the transition, as long as the music is heated. I'm where I'm at, everywhere's home to me."

With this album being Eiht's 11th solo album, and 19th album within his catalog, the veteran was asked where it will stand within his already legendary legacy. "I think [Which Way Is West] is going to be well-accepted, and it's going to go down as one of my best records," began the 42 year-old emcee formerly signed to deals with both Mack 10 and Snoop Dogg. "I've really been puttin' my heart and soul, as far as trying to represent the west and real music is concerned. The vocal content and the lyrics have been [amazing]. Everybody always said I had nice punchlines and lyrics, or I was always a good storyteller, I just tried to advance that to the next level. So it won't just be one of those [albums] where people go, 'Oh yeah, another Eiht record, it's a gonna be a couple of dope-sales, a couple of shoot-outs...' [Which Way Is West] is really focusing on some real west coast feel-good music and some real to-the-point [music]." "With what is going on in Hip Hop right now, I think [fans and critics] will perceive this record as one of Eiht's best." Like Freeway and Jake One's The Stimulus Package or Young Jeezy's The Recession, this is album that contains commentary on today's tough economic times. "If you feel like you're stuck in the struggle and you're sick of [rappers rapping about] 'everybody's fine, we all got billions of dollars,' then come on, pick up this record."
Which Way Is West releases later this year on Year Round Records.

NEWS:Inspectah Deck Talks Production Style, Being A "Street Journalist"

Having produced one-fourth of his latest album, March's Manifesto, Wu-Tang Clan's Inspectah Deck spoke with HipHopDX earlier this year about his production style. With credits dating back well over a decade on albums from GZA, Method Man and Ghostface Killah - among other Wu brethren, the Rebel INS is not new to the craft. However, the man taught by observing RZA at the boards during latenight studio sessions and Clan tours does assert that he wants more credit for being a double-threat.

After struggling to clear a Sade sample for his production on 1997's "Visionz" from the multi-platinum Wu-Tang Forever, Deck says that he's learning instruments instead of sampling instrumentals. "I got into the art of producing without the samples now. That takes piano lessons and all that. [In previous years], I wasn't really fully confident in my skills," admitted INS. "When you hear the Just Blazes out there, the Alchemists, the Havocs and the Pete Rocks and everybody that's out there bangin' 'em like that, I was like, 'Damn. I still need a little more practice.' Dudes kept tellin' me, 'Nah, son. You ready. You ready.'"

With that effort, Deck was asked to describe his sound. "I think my style is more or less, the Rap Curtis [Mayfield], the Rap Isaac [Hayes]," said the man who admitted that both late Soul icons were played frequently in his home as a child. "I love them strings, them basses, them Soul notes, while I try to give 'em them Hip Hop drums. I take [the listen] to Blaxploitation Rap without the sideburns and the bell-bottoms. It's like a flashback to if you was in Harlem in the '70s," he said with a laugh.

Quickly moving from beats to rhymes, Inspectah Deck revealed that his whole musical style was built on a common-man approach. "I'm a street journalist, man. I'm not the most gangsta or the richest dude out there. I'm nothin'; I'm not the flyest dude out there. I'm just one of the many, if anything. I'm not the man, I'm just one of the men."

Talking about his March album, Inspectah Deck believes that the Traffic Entertainment release is greater when treated of a sum of parts. "I would for a nigga to buy [Manifesto] and get on one of the longest highways, wherever you live at. If you're in [Detroit], drive from the D to [Chicago]," Deck said, laughing. "If you're in [Washington] DC, son, drive to Baltimore. Go from Baltimore to New York or something, and just let this one rock. I guarantee you, it'll [impress you]."

NEW VIDEO:40 Glocc "Fu*k The Police" Video ,40 Glocc Shoots Back at DA Mark Vos & Crooked Cops as He prepares for trial this week

Rapper 40 Glocc is slated to go on trial today (May 18th) for allegedly promoting gang culture in his music and videos.

The rapper is one of sixty names listed in the San Bernardino County district attorney's first approved preliminary civil gang injunction, against the Colton City Crips.

Colton City District Attorney Mark Vos and prosecutors claim that 40 Glocc, born Lawrence White, is a “senior member of the gang who has become a rap star.”

Prosecutors are attempting to stop 40 Glocc from rapping about being a crip in addition to keeping the Colton City Crips away from Arbor Terrace Apartments aka “The Zoo.”

Yesterday (May 17th), 40 Glocc released a new single, along with a video titled “F**k The Police,” in response to the injunction, which was originally filed in 2008.

The rapper appears in the video wearing a bandanna and a shirt promoting his upcoming album N.W.A. (New World Agenda).

“Copper what you looking for, the chopper’s in a safe place you don’t need to know/pitchin with 50 Cent don’t need to sell blow/talk to the lawyer, he’ll tell you what you want,” 40 Glocc raps.

In the song, he names checks Colton police Cpl. Shawn McFarland and Colton police Sgt. Eric Miller by name.

Both men investigated The Colton City Crips’ activities and helped draft the gang injunction.

In the video, 40 Glocc and several associates wave what appear to be automatic weapons at the camera, as they chant “F**k the police!”

A judge this morning ruled that a rapper who denied being part of the Colton City Crips does indeed belong to the street gang.

In 2008, a judge ruled that 40 Glocc was indeed a member of the gang, but ordered prosecutors to re-write the language of the gang injunction so 40 could continue to rap.

NEW RELEASE: Reflection Eternal (Talib Kweli + Hi-Tek) feat. Bun B, Estelle, Jay Electronica, J. Cole, Mos Def - 'Revolutions Per Minute LP OUT NOW!!

With their first collaboration praised for its uplifting messages and nostalgic soundscape, Kweli's command of the mic and Hi-Tek's versatile production skills have made this album one of the most anticipated hip-hop albums of 2010.the number of times a record can go around on a record player -- Talib Kweli explains the title is two-fold: "It's the idea of revolution through music. It's the idea that people in today's culture take things in YouTube-sized bites and clips and if it's not in a clip or a soundbite or something that you can fit in under a minute, people don't pay attention to it. The idea is: How many revolutions can you get accomplished in under a minute in a quick culture?"

Exclusively produced by Hi-Tek, features on the album include appearances by Estelle, Bilal, Bun B, Mos Def, Jay Electronica, J. Cole, Res and Chester French. The album covers an array of topics that discuss the shortcomings of America ("Strangers"), society's obsession with fame ("Got Work"), an honest discussion of drug use ("Lift'in Off"), the pining for a lover returning home ("Midnight Hour"), a music history lesson ("In the Red"), and even a track about Nigeria's corruption-riddled oil business ("Black Gold").http://www.marketwire.com
